Another Perfect Day

May 20th, 2008 10:10 am by Naomi in Day to Day at Glitter | No Comments »

Here are today’s new goodies. Just listed in the shop are a Babar storybook frame, and a little mouse reconstructed card.

Yesterday turned out great. We went to the doctor and baby and mama are growing just perfect (although I do already have the beached whale feel….). Then Jerome actually agreed to run by Target and Babies R Us to look at gear for our registry. We have a lot of family out of town so gift registries really are a good thing.

We also went to Trader Joe’s for yummy groceries, Ancora for coffee, and stopped by Wild Child to looks at these.

The lovely Janet told me about these after I was whining about my great diaper debates I was having, and they look amazing! They are somewhere between a cloth and a disposable diaper. You can actually compost or flush the liners (or they biodegrade if you have to toss them) and the covers are completely reusable! We may still look into complete cloth diapering systems but they are very expensive and for a starter this would be fun to try.

When we got home I put my swollen feet up and Jerome made a yummy dinner of grilled shish kabobs and couscous.

Then before bed we took out the hospital memorabilia box and looked at all our pictures and cards and wished Molly and Charlie a happy birthday.

Today I am going to sew kitties, plant veggies and strawberries and go to Darby’s fine art night for her spring concert. I am excited because we get to go out for ice cream afterwards! Pretty pathetic when the mama is more excited about the ice cream than the kiddos, but oh well!!

Our Guardian Angels

One year ago today our tiny baby angels, Charlie and Molly were born. I miss them every day and wonder what they would be like, their personalities, how much trouble they would be getting in!

I found that card in a stack of papers I had when I was moving out of Glitter, and I think it is absolutely perfect. I really do feel like they are watching over us, and that Little Man as well has two little guardians (even though the pic shows a girl… he doesn’t mind!!)

We have a doctor’s appointment this morning and I feel so blessed to be growing a strong, healthy baby boy. Laying in the hospital a year ago, I certainly wouldn’t have thought that we would be blessed so soon. Jerome took the day off of work so we can just spend it together doing whatever we feel like!! I may even convince him to do some thrifting with me. I am having major withdrawl.

I listed a few more goodies this morning. My goal is to list at least one new thing a day.

There are a few different squirrels, but won’t load you up with pics.

I love this frame. I actually love pretty much anything with silhouettes.

I was a little naughty and ordered this off of Etsy last night.

We have been calling little man Henri for quite a while now, so I guess it’s going to have to stick since I ordered a print for his room! It is from Sarah & Abraham

I love so much in her shop! I want to have her do a print with two sisters and a brother too.

Well, I suppose I better get some breakfast in me and get to the doctor! I still get anxious going to my appointments, but it is getting easier.

It is a beautiful sunny morning, and I know Charlie and Molly are enjoying it together, wherever they may be.

Yummy Treats

First off, thanks so much to everyone for all the sweet Happy B-day comments and emails! It turned out absolutely perfect. I met my sis and our friend Becky downtown for lunch and dropped off goodies for Anthology, then I met Jerome at Herreman’s supper club for dinner. Herreman’s is extra special for us because that is where we had our wedding reception too.

When I got there, he was waiting for me at the bar with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a card. I almost cried!! It was absolutely one of the most romantic things he has ever done and everyone there was smiling at us. Too cute!!! We had yummy fish and then went to Barnes and Noble to drink over priced coffee drinks and look at magazines. We also went to Sears to look at a new washer and dryer. I’m still trying to convince him that we need them, but especially with little man coming, and probably using cloth diapers, yikes!!! He has no idea how much laundry a little person goes through.

I have done a bit o crafting as well.

I finished these new guys last night.

I had made some of the strawberries last year and Sarah had mentioned that they would make cute keychains. Perfect! I think I am going to make little bon bon ones as well.

I also love this new frame.

I have always loved anything Alice in Wonderland. My dream has been to wake up in Wonderland one day, but you know what? I think I am already there…

33 years

May 16th, 2008 10:13 am by Naomi in Day to Day at Glitter | 4 Comments »

Yep, today is my birthday. It has been a pretty weird 33 years of life so far, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Now, for your viewing pleasure (or a good laugh) here is a little insight into moi.

Here I am, looking nice and plump, Christmas 1975 with my Nana (great-grandme).

An early look into my stellar taste in fashion, circa 1976

Then there were the “what other weird thing can I put on my head” years

I love the look on my sister’s face in that one. She always has thought I was a weird little duckling..

This one in particular is great. No, there is nothing wrong with my eyes. I just enjoyed crossing them in pictures to really tick off everyone else. My poor grandma (shown here) was so angry when my cousin and I stuck out our tongues and crossed our eyes in every single first communion picture… This was also my first cabbage patch kid, which I still have today. I was in third grade.

Then middle school..

I look pretty annoyed in that one, but that look pretty much lasted through high school. Scary enough, it actually took my quite a long time to make my hair look like that too. Many many bottles of sun in…. I still remember the smell..

Ah, high school. I won a modelling contest and got to go to New York to be in Sassy Magazine.

I didn’t let that one go to my head… SURE.

Well, that flat stomach is long gone, but for wonderful reasons (well, combined with my love of ice cream).

November 7, 1997

March 11, 1999

These two ladies have filled my life with such wonder and amazement (and headache, and worry, and screeching… but we’ll stick with wonder and amazement, and of course love…). Here they are in probably 2001.

And, last but not least, this picture should have gone with Mother’s Day, but because of these two ladies, My mom and my Mom-mom (mom’s mom, we weren’t too creative when we were little), I have had a strong foundation to start with, lots of love, and no shortage of courage. My grandmother has been gone a very long time, but because of how she raised my mom to be such a strong great woman, I have been taught the same, and hopefully are passing some of these traits to my girls.

The next step in the voyage? Meeting our son, in approximately three months from today. Let the journey continue…

Vintage Find and Swag Reminder!

May 14th, 2008 8:49 am by Naomi in Day to Day at Glitter | No Comments »

Finally! A little vintage find to share with you. These adorable squirrel salt and pepper shakers are up in the shop

Our anniversary ended up quite nice with dinner and root beer floats at my in-law’s house although it was pretty rough for a while after school. My kids have decided that I, and I quote “treat them like slaves” because I had the nerve to ask them to carry their laundry basket up stairs and remove their fort from our neighbors yard (neighbors I don’t even know!). Yep. We’re pretty awful. Oh, and we asked them to start washing off their own dishes after breakfast. Usually this consists of one plate / bowl, a utensil and a juice cup. My mother-in-law does make some type of magical spaghetti though, so once I told them we weren’t going to be able to go if they didn’t knock it off, things shaped up pretty quickly. They could probably eat an entire pot of her spaghetti if we didn’t make them stop!

Craftacular related, I am still taking donations for the 50 swag bags for the June 28th show. Some of you have already contacted me about this, so if you could mail it as soon as possible that would be great! I’m hoping to have the bags done by the 16th of June so this gives me just about a month to finish collecting goodies.

Remember, you do not have to be a vendor to participate! Any artist or crafter who would like to get our their card, promo, or small sample to 50 customers, media and shops is welcome to be a part of this. Simply leave a comment on here with a way to contact you, or email me at naomi@glitterworkshop.com and I will get you shipping instructions.

Thanks so much and wish me a better day today with my little slaves! Laundry is done, but they are going to have to help change their bedding…. uh-oh..
